When you think of uniforms or promotional clothing, do you think “boring”? You shouldn’t! Uniforms can have zip too which was recently proven by Place “D’Armes Hotel in Old Montreal. The hotel has introduced a new line of uniforms for hotel staff including the valets, concierges and receptionists. The zip added to the uniforms was to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the hotel. How does a hotel add zip to uniforms. It was in the details. For example, the cardigans have zip out shoulders. The black vest has a zip up shell. Also added to the uniforms were scarves in custom printed black and white.
The new uniform styles are the brainchild of Denis Gagnon. The designer tried to capture the elegance and history of the hotel in the staff uniform designs. Though the new uniforms are not mandatory, they are irresistible because of features like comfortable white blouses and black pinskirts.
What does the staff have to say about the new uniforms? They like them! Alexandrine Gauvreau is a model and barmaid. She said that “The white shirts are super comfortable and the little zippers on the shoulder make it interesting.” Her opinion was seconded by coworker Laurence Aubanel. She said, I find them very classy, especially with all the zips. It’s even on the skirt.”
Uniforms do not have to boring. They can be elegant, a bit daring, and stylish. The same is true for the men’s uniforms which were also redesigned by Gagnon. The designer himself wore the new men’s uniform the night of the 10th celebration. The signature style got rave reviews and proved once again that just because it’s a uniform, it doesn’t have to boring.
