New Uniforms Being Introduced to NHL

The National Hockey League is introducing new uniforms for their players and this clothing is designed to be comfortable for the players rather than to be attractive for fans buying merchandise. The uniforms are designed to allow their players to move more freely, to keep them cooler, to help keep their protective equipment in place and to fit better. The all-star players will start wearing their new uniforms next week in Dallas and then the rest of the league at the start of the next season. There was talk of a one-piece outfit that would make the players resemble robots but this was just rumours.

The new uniform actually took three years to create. It does closely resemble the older version but it is much lighter and more comfortable for their players to wear. The company who made the uniforms used new technologies and materials that are used in the sports world, and applied these to the hockey game. They have used a fabric that is seventy-six per cent more resistant than the old jersey, making it much lighter. The fabric also reduces body temperature, which means that the players will feel less tired at the end of the game. The new jersey also includes fabric that stretches with the players movements around the area of the underarms and back. The NHL commissioner Gary Bettman said "Change is always something for which, particularly in sports, there's no shortage of opinion,'' and he added, ”But if you go back and look at uniforms in the other sports over the years, you look at football uniforms and how they went from being loose and baggy to form-fitting. The full range of the uniform will be revealed on Monday at a news conference.
