Desperate for a Job…Try Printed T-Shirt Resumes

Making a good impression on a prospective employer is more important than ever as millions of people compete for jobs. The shortage of decent paying jobs has left many people willing to try just about anything to get noticed. It can be difficult to stand out in a crowd when so many people with excellent qualifications are trying just as hard.

CBS news discussed some unusual suggestions on the ways job seekers have tried to improve their chances of landing a job. Some of them are outrageous, but daring and desperate people have tried these techniques to get noticed. No one is recommending that these oddball strategies be used, but they do indicate the level of desperation in the job market.

Of course, there were suggestions like singing telegrams and printing a resume on brightly colored paper. Perhaps one of the most unusual was using t shirt printing to display a resume on the chest. Though you would not wear a t-shirt to a job interview, the resume shirt will certainly get you noticed wherever else you may roam.

All joking aside, it is very important to find some unique ways to get noticed. The CBS news report suggested adding a visual resume to the traditional resume.

A visual resume is a resume that displays accomplishments in a timeline. The visual resume can then be posted on social media sites like Facebook or LinkedIn.

There are software programs that make it easy to create a visual resume. However, you have to admit that printing a resume on a t-shirt is about as visual as you can get. Who knows? Maybe the next time you walk into a coffee shop or pub, the head of a major corporation will be in there and notice you. It’s certainly worth a try.
