Spending More Time Printing T-shirts

Tuesday 27th of February 2007 11:48:48 PM

Spending More Time Printing T-shirtsFor many small business owners, filing employee paperwork, handling payroll, and making sure orders get out on time can keep owners from monitoring the quality of their product. But outsourcing some of these duties is helping to keep owners where they want to be – on the floor. Sharon Maurer, owner of Giraffe-X Graphics, used to handle payroll and tax issues herself, but now she has called upon the services of a payroll company to handle these issues.

Her company creates mostly printed T-shirts for local and national events, clubs, and other organisations. Switching to a payroll was according to Maurer, “…one of the best things I've ever done.” Having more time to spend improving her product, Maurer can now train employees, inspect shipments, or handle emergency issues without having to be under so much stress to get everything done.

Small businesses should consider using other companies for their outsourcing needs. This will help them remain profitable, and will stop small businesses from making mistakes on their taxes. If a business is not big enough to hire a company to handle payroll and tax deductions, buying computer software is another option. The software will automatically deduct money from pay checks so that companies will not fall behind on their taxes.

Running any type of business, including one that manufactures printed T-shirts, can be stressful. Since many people are not well trained in number crunching, buying software or hiring an outside company is a wise investment.

Mark McNulty, a human resources consultant, recommends outsourcing payroll to his clients. “Keeping track of all the taxes and forms seems more hassle than it's worth. I don't see why anyone would want to do their own,” he said. This is good advice for small business owners to follow as they try to expand their operations in order to become more profitable.
