UK company TOR Banners is expanding to the US and Canadian markets by debuting their banners at the North American Brass Band Association 25th Anniversary Championships (NABBA) this coming April. They have designed banners for other famous US bands include the New York Salvation Army Band and the New England Brass Band. “Exhibiting at the NABBA contest gives us a great opportunity to develop our markets in the USA and Canada under the TOR Banners business name. This is a particularly timely event as it coincides with the launch of our new TOR Banners website,” said Jon Handley of TOR Banners.Creating embroidery banners for the winners and designing the logo for the NABBA are also activities the company has been involved in over the last few months. The logo will be featured in programmes, pennants, and in various locations throughout the event. “Doug Yeo, principal trombone player with the Boston Symphony Orchestra and Board Member of NABBA, has been instrumental in the new association between TOR Banners and the Championships. On a recent trip to the UK he commented on the striking sight at a brass band contest for which we had provided all the music stand banners and recognised the important part they played in the overall ‘performance package’,” said Handley.
Being able to showcase their embroidery craftsmanship at larger events has helped the company complete in the international marketplace. "The brass bands in America are growing rapidly in popularity and their attraction to the style and tradition of the British brass band enables us to offer them not only the stage look, but also the quality of manufacture and embroidery our company has developed over the three generations involved in its organisation,” said Handley.
