the chance to review the image is great for checking everything over one last time before printing. the time between reviewing the print and delivery was another positive, taking only a couple of days. my friends were really pleased with the finished items. unfortunately i was out when the courier called. he didn't note the date or time of his attempted delivery on his card and he hadn't filled in when or if he would attempt delivery again. on repeatedly phoning the company on a friday between 4:50 and 6 i got no answer. i then tried again on the monday morning, but once again i got no answer. after phoning clothes2order they resolved everything. i realise this is outwith the control of clothes2order, but it soured an otherwise excellent service.

Creative Design

Thursday 29th of March 2007 11:15:07 PM

Creative DesignFor two UK designers, Heidi Ranson and Ingrid Wagner, creating an imaginative, unique workspace or personal space is about more than just filling it with things. “I firmly believe that good design isn't about money. It's about having the courage of your convictions and not being afraid to be individual,” said Wagner. The two have designed rooms in homes, hotels, and other corporate work environments. Their exhibit, “Interiority" - at Newcastle's Mushroom Works Gallery, will feature works by both artists, completed together and separately.

When they are not working on their own creations, both women travel, teach, and try to expand people’s creativity. “I spent a month travelling on my own in the Atlas mountains. On the way back, I loaded up a van full of rugs which I sold back in Newcastle. But it felt ethically wrong to make a profit on the back of a developing country. I wanted to try and put something back so I found two Moroccan partners and started taking people over on trips in 2005. It gives people a chance to learn a new creative skill, such as weaving, embroidery, mosaics, calligraphy, painting and interior wall effects while immersing themselves in the culture,” said Wagner.

Learning more about textiles that come from other cultures has inspired both women, and influenced their designs. embroidery, tapestries, tile work, and other forms of art are unique to their country of origin. Being able to put different styles together is one way people can be creative with their spaces. When asked about the type of work they do, Ranson said, “We don't like boxes or boundaries. People often ask, are you an artist or are you an interior designer? But we really don't like to be categorised as our work is dual purpose and blurs the boundaries between art, design and function.”
