the chance to review the image is great for checking everything over one last time before printing. the time between reviewing the print and delivery was another positive, taking only a couple of days. my friends were really pleased with the finished items. unfortunately i was out when the courier called. he didn't note the date or time of his attempted delivery on his card and he hadn't filled in when or if he would attempt delivery again. on repeatedly phoning the company on a friday between 4:50 and 6 i got no answer. i then tried again on the monday morning, but once again i got no answer. after phoning clothes2order they resolved everything. i realise this is outwith the control of clothes2order, but it soured an otherwise excellent service.

Broder Bros. Clothing Wholesaler Company Closes Manufacturing Plant

Thursday 05th of April 2007 11:59:59 PM

Broder Bros. Clothing Wholesaler Company Closes Manufacturing PlantBroder Bros., a wholesale retail company that sells printed T-shirts and other promotional Clothing, will be closing one of their distribution plants in Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA in the next two months. The company, which cited reorganisation efforts a few months ago, plans on opening four new plants in the US including Chicago, Illinois, Fresno, California, Middleboro, Massachusetts, and Dallas, Texas. The new plants should be opening in the next few months.

In an effort to protect employees, who are not unionised, the executive vice president of the Fort Wayne-Allen County Economic Development Alliance, Scott Naltner, met with Broder Bros. representatives to work out severance packages. “We never got to the point where we put (an incentives) package together for them. We’re disappointed, obviously,” said Nalter. The Alliance is also trying to persuade other promotional clothing companies to move into the factory space after Broder Bros. moves out.

The manufacturing plant has a total of 73 employees, which include four supervisors, a distribution centre manager, human resources manager, twenty-eight order processors and thirteen material handlers, and four team leaders. Fort Wayne Mayor Graham Richards was notified by company representatives, but it is unclear as to what employees have been told. They are still taking orders for promotional Clothing and other items and will probably continue to do so until the plant closes.

Even though Broder Bros. has seen a rise in profits since the last quarter, because of more businesses allowing causal clothing in the workplace. Their decision to close the plant is surprising to many in the wholesale distribution business and to the town of Fort Wayne.
