While other officials in Northern Ireland had their shirts made overseas as far away as Paris, First Minister designate Dr Ian Paisley decided a local company in Donegal, Southern Ireland was good enough for him. After receiving a cleric shirt from Moville Clothing Company as a gift, Paisley decided to order five more shirts because he liked the fabric and the fit. “It was one of the nicest shirts I have ever seen. The material is so soft and comfortable,” said Paisley.“We're very proud that Dr Paisley has chosen to come to the south and get his shirts made with us. Hopefully it's a sign of the good things to come between the north and the south,” said Harry Doherty, whose sons own the express clothing company. The idea to send a shirt to Paisley was that of Reverend Jim Rhea, who has been purchasing his shirts from the company for the last few years. Other officials such as Deputy First Minister designate Martin McGuinness and Sinn Fein Party leader Gerry Adams were also sent shirts, but the shirt’s style did not fit their positions.
The shirt that was sent to Paisley was made of 100% cotton. The two-fold shirt was Paisley needed which is why he placed an order with the company.
Moville Clothing Company is owned and operated by three brothers, Ray, Hilary and Joe Doherty. Their father Harry, helps them with larger orders as he is a master cutter. The company is the last shirt company in Donegal.
Advertising in this manner may help the express clothing company receive more orders from different regions in Ireland. Being able to send a quality product is the best way to help expand a company’s territory and help it survive.
