While many UK companies are open to bringing UK manufactured clothing jobs back to the UK, the demand for those skilled in pattern cutting, sewing, and knitting may be too high. Since many of these types of jobs were sent overseas in the past few years, fewer people have been trained in working in textiles related jobs.“…in recent years the UK's manufacturing base has suffered from a massive mis- investment in training with more than £72 million wasted each year in Skillfast-UK's sector alone. The result is a serious shortage of appropriately skilled workers. If we don't take action now to protect technical skills in design, and production, the UK manufacturing base won't be ready to respond to this major retail opportunity,” said Chief Executive of Skillfast-UK, Linda Florance. Skillfast-UK represents those who work in the textiles and clothing industries providing training and small business assistance.
With the constant demand for t-shirts, pants, dresses, polo shirts, and other clothing, bringing back jobs could only benefit UK workers and those who are having difficulty finding employment. “The clothing, footwear and textiles industry contributes around £10 billion to the UK economy each year and employs around 380,000 people. UK manufacturing never went away. We have great design talent and can turn things round more quickly than the Far East, which is really important for fast-turn retailers who do not always have the time needed for shipments of garments to be manufactured, shipped and cleared through Customs,” said Florance.
Increased training efforts by Skillfast-UK is helping those who want to learn about the textiles and clothing industry by providing training, and helping employers manage their businesses. Being able to produce clothing such as t-shirts and polo shirts in the UK on a larger scale would benefit many who may want to start their own businesses or those who want to work in this industry.

the chance to review the image is great for checking everything over one last time before printing. the time between reviewing the print and delivery was another positive, taking only a couple of days. my friends were really pleased with the finished items. unfortunately i was out when the courier called. he didn't note the date or time of his attempted delivery on his card and he hadn't filled in when or if he would attempt delivery again. on repeatedly phoning the company on a friday between 4:50 and 6 i got no answer. i then tried again on the monday morning, but once again i got no answer. after phoning clothes2order they resolved everything. i realise this is outwith the control of clothes2order, but it soured an otherwise excellent service.
Delighted with the results. Very popular so repeat orders very likely.
great service, no problems at all
