Actor Anthony Hopkins Takes on Painting and T-shirt Printing

Sunday 29th of April 2007 01:03:30 AM

Actor Anthony Hopkins Takes on Painting and T-shirt PrintingBritish actor Anthony Hopkins has played many roles in his lifetime, but these days, he is happiest painting, writing music, and spending time with his family. Since Hopkins is in a place where he can take roles when he feels like it, devoting his time to other pursuits has taken centre stage to acting. With his wife Stella, who supports his new creative endeavours, which include selling paintings and designing printed T-shirts for charity, Hopkins seems more relaxed and at ease with who he is and with the world in general.

"Doing the art was my wife's idea. She encouraged me to start painting. We are involved in a business and the proceeds of the paintings go to charity and we are also designing T-shirts. I had an exhibition of my work down in San Antonio in Texas and I have another one in Vegas this month. I don't know how to paint, but I like to paint: abstracts, landscapes and all that stuff. People pay a lot of money for them, I don't know why,” Hopkins said in a recent interview.

Along with painting and t-shirt printing, Hopkins recently showcased a movie he wrote, directed, and created the musical score for at the Sundance Film Festival in Colorado, USA. Being able to work in different mediums seems to suit Hopkins just fine. “My music occupies me when I'm not painting. I've always played the piano and wanted to be a musician, and now I have the time to do it. I enjoyed writing the music for my movie and I wrote the whole score in 10 days. You know, the important thing is to break all the rules and the freedom is to not have any rules. What do you want to do? Write a novel? Well, just write it," Hopkins said.
