What started as a way to encourage positive self image in schoolchildren has become a successful children's and adult clothing line. Meri Zeiff, a former elementary school teacher, decided to design a line of children's clothing with a positive message as a way to curb the negative ones that she was seeing. "As a teacher, I was incredibly surprised that I never saw clothing that expressed the joyful, whimsical things I was hearing my kids say every day. I decided to launch a t-shirt line, using my own student's designs, that gave voice to their unending creativity with positive messages, beautiful colors and inspirational ideas," Zeiff said.printed T-shirts with child friendly sayings include 'I'm an artist' and 'First Grade Rocks!' designed by her company, Verimeri, can be found on Zeiff's web site. As a way to increase awareness for sensitivity toward children and their potential, each t-shirt is designed by a child. Design contests are held every few months and winners are chosen by vote. Allowing children to express themselves is one way to spark their creativity and allow them to see themselves in a positive way.
Along withprinted T-shirts, 5% of all sales will go to the non-profit organization, Free Arts for All Children, to help children throughout the US and other countries.
With the success of her children's line, Zeiff is now offering printed T-shirts in infant and adult sizes. They can be found on the web site and in select boutiques and shops along with her children's line.
