Each year, GQ releases its 100 Top Men's Stores in America. Stores are chosen based on the products that are carried and how well the store appeals to male shoppers. Because most men prefer simple clothing that looks tailored, but casual, GQ created this list to help men find clothing that suits their personalities. One of the stores chosen was men's clothing store Peasant, which opened in Birmingham, Michigan, USA in 2005, stocks clothing by a variety of designers include UK designer, Oliver Spencer and Steven Alan. printed T-shirts line, Rogues Gallery T-shirts, is very popular.
“A lot of times it’s hard for guys to get new clothes because they are so accustomed to what they have because it’s so comfortable. (Steven Alan’s shirts) jump-starts that process. It’s like having a shirt that you’ve had for the last 10 years without having any rips or frays. I think the main reason why we got picked is because we are really searching for those new designers and new products that are still underground, getting a jump on them,” said Brian Foltyn, the owner of Peasant.
In addition to t-shirts, the store also carries sweaters, dress shirts, and trousers. The store also carries women's clothing. “A large majority of our customers are women who shop for their husbands, so while wives or girlfriends are here shopping, they can always pick up a few items for themselves,” said Foltyn.
