New Shirt for Beckham and Galaxy

LA Galaxy, the American soccer team David Beckham recently joined, along with Adidas recently debuted new jerseys in order to draw more attention to the game and the teams newest star. The new uniforms are now white and carry a new crest named 'Quasar'. "A Quasar is the heart of a galaxy. It generates incredible light and energy. Our crest shows a Quasar shining brightly in a deep blue California sky. It illuminates the initials L.A. The color gold honours the Galaxy's proud history and tradition in the Golden State," said Galaxy president Alexi Lalas.

Because soccer is not as popular as other sports in the US, designing a new look to welcome an international star like Beckham may be what the sport needs in order to gain popularity with the crowds. "We wanted a classic and clean look that would stand the test of time. We wanted something that generations of players and fans would wear with pride, on and off the field. We wanted a jersey with an eye to the future and a nod to the past," said Lalas.

Beckham, who previously played for Real Madrid, will play an integral role in drawing the crowds and encouraging others to play the game as well. So far, over 250,000 jerseys have been sold.
