printed T-shirts are worn for a variety of reasons, but mostly they are for humorous purposes. But can wearing t-shirts that have negative messages cause the person wearing them to feel bad about themselves or the world around them? Yes, says t-shirt designer, Christine McCarron. The designer recently launched a clothing label that promotes only positive images for those living in or around her hometown of Haverhill, New Hampshire, USA.“If you carry a negative message, there’s a chance you can subconsciously buy into that message. If you carry a positive message, then it’s going to cheer you up and slowly erode your negativity,” said McCarron. Her shirts are different from other shirts that promote a healthy self-image, however. Words of inspiration are printed backwards so they can be viewed by the wearer when standing in front of a mirror.
“It’s just a little reminder throughout the day. It’s a way to remind yourself of your inner strength. The more you see the message, the more you begin thinking that way. It can change you,” said McCarron of the new her new clothing line that she has named ‘Reflection Collection’.
printed T-shirts containing words like ‘good’, and ‘strong’ are hidden within a graphic design so they do not appear as backwards words to those viewing the shirts.
For now, McCarron is limiting the printing of the shirts to regional consumers. While consumers can choose from her list of positive words, they can also choose their own word as long as it is positive and not demeaning in any way.
