Even though there are many markets to sell printed T-shirts online and in stores around the world, one group that has been ignored until now are those between the ages of 44-60. While this group mainly consists of those who have reached retirement age or who are on their way, and who have money to spend on various items, many t-shirt printing companies have not tapped into this lucrative market. But one company, Old Guys Rule, located in Ventura, California, USA, have settled quietly into this market and have found a lot of money to be made selling t-shirts, bumper stickers, hats, underwear, belt buckles, and greeting cards to this age group.
Owner Don Craig came up with the idea after creating bumper stickers for his father and a few of his friends that said ‘Old Guys Rule’. Other people started asking about the stickers and a company was born. With the help of Thorn Hill, president of Coastal Classics, the company has become very successful over the past few years.
"It started as a beach lifestyle because of Don's background, but really applies to anyone at that sweet spot in life. It's a celebration of being at that point in life,” said Hill.
In addition to selling merchandise to retirees and those nearing retirement, the company has also designed a line of promotional Clothing for the John Wayne Cancer Foundation. Ten percent of all proceeds will go to the charity that provided funding for cancer research and supports cancer treatment centers.
