In addition to their deal with MySpace to help musicians sell promotional Clothing and other items, Zazzle has also introduced three new features on their own site: Dark Apparel 2.0, Name-Your-Royalty, and Model Realviews. These features make it easier for artists and designers to promote and sell their products.Printing on dark clothing has always been an issue for screen printers because of poor print quality and fading which occurs after a few washings. Dar Apparel 2.0 promises to alleviate these problems through processes that are much better than traditional screen printing. With many more colors to choose from, artists will be able to offer more choices to customers.
Name-Your-Royalty allows artists to set their own prices when it comes to the merchandise they are selling on Zazzle's site. Depending on the design, artists will be able to charge what they feel is fair for the work they have done. Since all printed T-shirts are shipped within 24 hours after placing an order by Zazzle, customers may not mind paying a little more for a quality t-shirt delivered in a short period of time.
Model Realviews is a feature that helps artists determine what their printed T-shirts will look on real people. After uploading the design to the shirt, they can put it on the body of a virtual model to get a better idea of how it looks.
"These technologies will dramatically change the game for online retail. The innovation is remarkable, and Zazzle's platform with the proprietary tools could allow any retailer or designer, regardless of size, to conduct business with similar distribution, inventory strength and the ability to market, as a major brand," said Zazzle chief operating officer, James Heckman.
