Fibre2Fashion recently interviewed the president of NAUMD (National Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors) to discuss the association and what they do for uniforms worldwide. The association is comprised of uniform manufacturers, designers, producers and distributors all over the world. Currently, there are 450 members which serve clients in many countries. This association oversees uniform developers in many areas such as band uniforms, restaurant, food service, postal, school, retail and many more places which require uniforms. Richard J Lerman, the president of NAUMD believes that the work that this association has done will continue to grow and keep providing quality and new uniforms to its client. The association began in 1933. It wasn’t until the 1970s that distributors of uniforms joined with National Association of Uniform Manufacturers making the name extension National Association of Uniform Manufacturers and Distributors. Recently, in 2007 the association decided to extend their name again to include a large section of their uniform productions, North America.
Every year, the association takes some of the best uniform designs and honors the people who wear the uniforms. This year, the Huran-Clinton Metroparks Police Department received the award for Best Dressed Law Enforcement Contest. It is hoped that by recognizing the good work that these designers and manufacturers do will motivate others to strive to accomplish resulting in impressing client all over the world.
