The Vision Magazine had an interesting article about the t-shirt manufacturer Cloth of the American Mind. A printed t-shirt made from the concept of Star Wars is grey with "Stop Wars" on the front in the shape of the letters from the classic Star Wars logo. On the back of this shirt, it says, "Because the Force is With us." The Clothing of the American Mind (COTAM) is a progressive organisation that manufacturers shirts that support a particular cause. Every t-shirt that sells, a portion of the sale goes to a political cause.Most of the shirts are political and strike up conversation and controversy. This organisation supports groups such as MoveOn.org, Human Rights Watch, Progressive Democrats of America, Iraq Veterans Against the War and others. COTAM started producing their political progressive style shirts in 2004 and supported groups that are pro-peace, pro-environment, pro-human rights, pro-democratic and pro-choice. So far, the company has donated almost $35,000 to these groups.
Besides supporting good causes in the US, this group manufactures all of their clothing in America by Fair Trade. This means that all workers receive decent wages and work in healthy, safe settings. the chance to review the image is great for checking everything over one last time before printing. the time between reviewing the print and delivery was another positive, taking only a couple of days. my friends were really pleased with the finished items. unfortunately i was out when the courier called. he didn't note the date or time of his attempted delivery on his card and he hadn't filled in when or if he would attempt delivery again. on repeatedly phoning the company on a friday between 4:50 and 6 i got no answer. i then tried again on the monday morning, but once again i got no answer. after phoning clothes2order they resolved everything. i realise this is outwith the control of clothes2order, but it soured an otherwise excellent service.
Delighted with the results. Very popular so repeat orders very likely.
