T-shirts do tend to come under fire sometimes for all kinds of reasons and usually one of those reasons is because they are seen as offensive to others.
This is just what happened to an Iraqi descendant earlier this year. He was forced to remove the T-shirt leaving him shocked and appalled that something so small could lead to such drastic action.
It is a matter which has sparked debate about the use of printed T-shirts and since that incident there have been various other incidents of T-shirts becoming banned due to their offensive nature.
The man’s T-shirt in question simply read “We will not be silent” in both English and Arabic and that is all it took to get officials hot under the collar. It was in fact other passengers that were worried and who complained about the T-shirt so we have to ask ourselves whether or not we may be over reacting in these kinds of circumstances. Can a T-shirt really cause so much danger?
At first the man refused to remove his T-shirt but he was bought another one from an airport shop which he eventually swapped. The original T-shirt is said to be opposing to the war in Iraq though it is not truly offensive.
