March for the Animals in the United States

Maryland SPCA, an organisation for the welfare of animals holds an annually March for the Animals to raise money to care for abused, neglected and abandoned animals. Last year 6,000 people took part in the event and raised approximately $330,000, which was the highest amount raised since the event started 13 years ago. Those taking part in the march walk with their pet 1.5 miles and raise money by having sponsors. People who would like to walk in the March for the Animals can walk individually with their dog or walk in a "pack." A pack is four to 25 people in one group with their dogs. If a person decides to walk individually, he or she will only need to raise at least $40 to participate. Those who decide to walk as a "pack" will need to raise at least $500.
Other pack privileges include a team name on their printed t-shirts with the March for the Animals design. They will also get a picture taken with their pets at the event. The person who raises the most amount of money for the charity will receive special seating in the Governor's Box at the Orioles-Nationals game.
