CALM

Tuesday 06th of May 2008 02:31:39 AM

CALMWe’ve all read about the various charities that use T-shirts as part of their promotional Clothing. Typically, T-shirts are sold to support a cause or they are worn as part of a walk or bike ride for charity.

However, some charities are coming up with some really creative ways to use T-shirts to raise money. Take, Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM) for example. CALM’s mission is to help young men ages 15-35 with their feelings and help prevent suicides.

The first part of CALM’s current fundraising plan is to do a mass mailing to music companies asking for donations of music tracks and money. As part of the mailing the companies will receive a T-shirt with famous musicians who have taken their own lives. The message accompanying the T-shirt is said to read, “We can’t raise the dead, but we can raise awareness.”

Then, CALM plans to try to break the world record concerning how many T-shirts a person can wear at one time. The goal is that two people will each wear 250 T-shirts at the same time. The T-shirts will have the logo of each company that donated to the fundraiser and the event will be posted on YouTube and promoted by the Metro.

This is a great example of how T-shirts can be used creatively to raise money for a good cause. CALM will raise much needed money but they will also raise awareness which is critical to their cause. Their target audience of men aged 15-35 will likely tune into YouTube and be interested in the different music groups that donated to the cause. People will be curious to see if the world record will be broken.

In the end, this is some creative thinking that will have real and substantial benefits for the CALM charity and the people they serve.
