Children’s T-shirt Accused of Encouraging Domestic Violence

Sunday 17th of December 2006 09:38:29 AM

Children’s T-shirt Accused of Encouraging Domestic Violence

A children’s T-shirt has recently sparked fury amongst local shoppers as it clearly shows a man stick figure pushing a woman stick figure out of a box. The words “Problem Solved” appear when the woman has been pushed out of the box and shoppers as well as domestic violence centres are fuming.

After protest the printed T-shirtswere removed for a short period of time but they are now back on sale. People are saying that the T-shirts will encourage children to partake in domestic violence later on in life, but you have to ask yourself if a T-shirt can really start something as serious as domestic violence. It certainly doesn’t look good and there is no doubt what the T-shirt is implying but to say that it will encourage domestic violence is another matter altogether.

It also gives the impression that domestic violence only happens to women when in fact more men die from domestic violence than women do each year. There is certainly a big issue here and once again printed T-shirtsare being used in an offensive way. With all of this negative focus it might be possible that printed T-shirtswill be banned in a few years time!
