Sales of T-Shirts Replicating Olympic Wear Double in Canada

Canadians are big supporters of their Olympic teams participating in the Beijing games. They are showing their support by purchasing Olympic replica wear in record numbers. In fact the Hudson Bay Company, a popular clothing retailer, announced that the sales of Olympic replica sportswear have doubled just since the games began.The Canadians are buying a variety of Olympic clothing. Team supporters are purchasing t-shirts that are made in 5 different colours. Also popular are the printed t-shirts with the Chinese script and Banner and Elements t-shirts. Buyers are also purchasing the sweatshirts or hoodies manufactured in popover fleece and a variety of other sweat clothing styles.
The Hudson Bay Company designed the promotional clothing line after lengthy consultations with the Canadian Olympic team members. The designs are intended to be fashionable and functional meaning anyone can wear the clothing with pride. One of the more interesting aspects of the clothing is the fact most is made with the newest performance fabrics that have wicking properties. The new fabrics keep athletes cooler, are odour resistant and offer UV protection.
The official supplier of the Canadian Olympic team is the Hudson Bay Company. The company has retailer licensing rights until 2012. In return for the exclusive rights to the Olympic team wear, the company also operates a foundation which raises money for the training of Canadian athletes. The foundation has a goal of raising $20 million and has raised $6 million to date.
Canadians are very proud of their Olympic team uniforms. Weightlifter Marilou Dozois-Provost was quoted as saying, “I found them to be very comfortable, breathable, practical and environmentally friendly. I love how we look stylish in them.” Athletes also appreciate the uniform designs because they are quite different from past uniforms worn by Canadian Olympians. Each athlete was provided a clothing set with 25 pieces that included t-shirts, hoodies, jackets and pants in addition to other items.
