Pucci Hires New Clothes Designer

Tuesday 30th of September 2008 09:48:27 PM

Pucci Hires New Clothes DesignerIf you haven’t seen Pucci fashions, you’re missing out on some of the most innovative and unique designs. Emilio Pucci is the label name which has been gracing clothes for over 60 years. The 60th year celebration occurred in 2007. What makes Pucci so unique is the fabric patterns which are still reminiscent of the brilliantly colored patterns of the 1960s. The first Pucci design was a 1940s fashion ski suit which got instant attention and led to the establishment of the design house which exists today.

Still going strong, the Pucci label joined forces with LVMH, a French luxury group, in 2000. The company really did not achieve worldwide prominence until the 1960s though which is when the label adopted the vibrant colours and patterns that distinguish the 1960s from other decades. Even today, when you look at the clothes which the label produces, you’ll find dresses, shirts, skirts, jackets and many other pieces that carry the trademark stained-glass window or swirling patterns which distinguish the label.

Pucci recently announced that the company has hired a new Artistic Director who begins October 1, 2008. Mr. Peter Dundas, who is Norwegian, will replace Matthew Williamson of Britain. Dundas has an impressive design background including a stint as designer for Emanuel Ungara. He has experiences designing everything fromembroidered shirts To elaborate cocktail dresses and evening gowns. He is considered to be well-established designer who will bring a fresh approach to the Pucci label while preserving its identity based in the 1960s.

Dundas has an immediate assignment. He is going to develop a new line of ready-to-wear fashion which will be offered for sale in the 47 Pucci stores. Dundas graduated from the Parsons School of Design and has worked for Jean-Paul Gaultier, Christian Lacroix, Roberto Cavalli and Emanuel Ungaro.
