The New Eco-Textile Labeling Guide Available at Interstoff

Friday 03rd of October 2008 08:30:34 PM

The New Eco-Textile Labeling Guide Available at InterstoffThe Autumn Fair held in October 2008 called the Interstoff will have more than fashion and fabrics on display. The new eco-textile labeling guide will also be available. The book has 4 main sections as follows: (1) Obligatory organic textile standards, (2) Optional organic textile standards, (3) Eco-textile standards and (4) Ethical production and fair trade.

This resource guide represents the most comprehensive guide available concerning textile standards and proper labeling. From embroidered shirts used for athletic wear to elegant ball gowns, the materials used in clothing can now be labeled according to its make-up and design. Each year new textiles and fabrics are introduced which take manufacturing standards to new levels.

Many different countries are represented at Interstoff. You will find China, India, Italy, Austria, the United States, the United Kingdom, Korea, Thailand and many others. Displays include fashion, fabrics, textile products and so on. New fabrics being introduced by Korea, Taiwan and China are breathable, provide ultraviolet protection, and are highly absorbent. These fabrics are ideal for use in sports and athletic clothing brands.

Eco-labeling is taking on greater importance as manufacturers become familiar with the concept. The Eco-Textile Labeling Guide will explain how manufacturer's can earn important certifications. Eco-friendly textiles are produced with the least amount of impact on the environment. Interstoff is the ideal event at which to further promote the concept of eco-friendly fabrics and fashions.

As the Director of Trade Fairs of Messe Frankfurt (HK), Ltd. was quoted as saying, “Customers at our trade fair want to know what kind of eco-textile labels are available in the market, what is the difference between them, how to sell eco-products to Europe, Japan and the US, and above all, what does it all cost? I believe the ‘eco-textile labelling guide’ can provide answers to these questions."

Interstoff will have many displays and a number of speakers including representatives from the organic wool industry.
