Adidas is a well-known sports and athletic brand that sells a variety of equipment and clothing for men, women and children. The company recently has announced an innovative and exciting campaign for 2009 that will focus on clothing for outdoor activities. The company is planning on positioning itself to offer a variety of outdoor clothing for those involved in extreme, daring and rugged sports.Adidas has hired two extreme athletes as spokespersons. The two men, Alexander and Thomas Huber, are planning on leaving on an Antarctic expedition shortly. The outdoor campaign is based on the premise that enthusiasts who are avid about the outdoors see their activities as an important part of a lifestyle and not just as casual hobbies.
The Senior Vice President of Global Outdoor Adidas, Mr. Rolf Reinschmidt, said, "The Adidas products are aimed both at athletes who achieve sporting excellence, as well as leisure time sports enthusiasts. The outdoors is more than sport alone - the outdoors is an attitude to life. This is embodied by the new Adidas Terrex Collection."
Adidas is taking an aggressive approach to the new outdoors campaign. The company is attending the trekking exhibition held in July 2009 in Swabian Friedrichafen. Their presence at the exhibition is intended to get the attention of the global press. The outdoor line of sporting clothing and equipment is to be sold to sports enthusiasts around the world.
The clothing is made to endure the intense activity which defines extreme and active sports. Some feel the campaign motto, “Outside is everything – Impossible is Nothing” is more suitable to striking factory workers in uniforms. But the motto is intended to convey the daring attitude of the people most likely to be interested in the specially designed clothing made of special textiles.
