Nike is one of the largest sporting clothing, accessories and sporting goods retailers. The Nike logo is recognized around the world and is seen at almost every sporting event from football to the Olympics. The promotional clothing made by Nike is often made under contract with sports associations. What many people don’t realize is that Nike also does considerable research into new kinds of athletic uniform materials that enhance comfort and utility for the wearer. Recently Nike introduced a new kind of football uniform for the US sport which is being called a “shrink wrap” uniform. It was first worn by teams at the US Army versus US Navy football game. It is being called “shrink wrap” because it is very form fitting while being lightweight. The athlete is able to move about freely while wearing the uniform without worrying about loose material that can be grabbed by opponents. The new material is very breathable too which serves to wick moisture away from the body.
In honour of the military football teams, the uniforms were called “Enforcer” and the army football pants have a digital print camouflage pattern. On the back of the jersey is printed the words, “Duty, Honor, Country”. The Nike logo is on the shirts that are part of the uniforms. Also printed on the pants is the army slogan, “Boots on the Ground”.
The Navy uniform jersey has the US Navy anchor logo and the US Marines globe. In recognition of the military units stationed around the world, each player wears a patch which represents a particular Army or Navy unit. The colours of the uniforms are the traditional colours of the particular armed forces the team is playing for.
Nike has always been a leader in the sporting goods industry and is frequently introducing new designs, materials and approac hes to traditional sport clothing.
