T-Shirts are part of folklore now. They are so ingrained in our society and culture that we use them to send messages or represent emotions. For example, there is an expression that goes something like this. The first part indicates something important happened in your life or you put out a lot of effort. The last part of the saying says, “…and all I got was this t-shirt.” For example, “I survived an earthquake and all I have to show for it is this shirt.” You’ll find plenty of people wearing t-shirts that have their own promotional statements.
In the national newspaper USA Today in the editorial section (19-Nov-2009, p 10A) the editorial comment read, “Obama goes to China, brings home a T-shirt”. What this means is the U.S President did not have a particularly successful trip to China where he met with China’s President Hu Jintao. The President had hoped to get concessions on currency values and trade, but was lucky to get the proverbial t-shirt.
T-shirts have been used for promotional purposes for decades now. Have something you want to protest? Wear a t-shirt with a slogan. Want to promote a cause? Buy t-shirt printing and wear shirts with a logo representing the cause. The versatility of t-shirts is beyond compare simply because you can get them printed with a picture, logo, or saying.
Of course, many people wear logo t-shirts and polo shirts to work. The company name or logo is embroidered on the shirts. It’s a great advertising tactic that also results in employees wearing durable and great looking clothing.
Next time something dramatic happens to you, maybe it’s time to get some printed t-shirts. You could have the following slogan printed on it: “I tried my best and all I got was this (Great!) t-shirt!”<© Image by Gokhan Okur, www.sxc.hu/
