Alycat Designs of San Francisco, California, spotted a gap in the embroidery market, and took the opportunity to fill it. They have started wholesaling handbags, purses and totes to embroidery and gift retailers. Their goods are designed for today’s ‘active women on a budget’.
The bags themselves fit in with this lifestyle, being durable and lightweight, and made of a micro fibre material. Designed to be carried anywhere and used for anything, their bags will be suitable for the office, the gym, and even as a nappy bag. Busy women these days need a bag that will be suitable for every day use, and this is exactly what Alycat is trying to supply.
The bags will be sold both to online retailers and tradeshows, and are easily customizable with embroidery, making a perfect gift, that is also useful. When they started the line, Alycat Design wanted to make their bags affordable, practical and useful as gifts, and it seems they have succeeded.
Alycat themselves do not embroider their goods, as not everyone wants a personalized bag. They therefore leave this to the retailer, and personal choice.
