Military Uniform Features are Still TrendyMembers of the military are loved by the people so it should not be a surprise that military uniforms are adopted by the fashion world. People have always had a fascination with military style clothing. Some of this fascination comes from the admiration felt for those who sacrifice for their countries. When feeling pride in someone, it’s only natural to want to imitate the person. As a result, the appeal of military styled fashion has been ongoing for many decades .

Military clothing that imitates uniforms is often worn by the young and trendy. The singer Michael Jackson liked to wear military style jackets and heavy boots, and he set off a fashion trend at one point. But fashion sometimes incorporates components of the uniform and does not strictly copy it. For example, epaulets on a jacket or drop front trousers with wide bell bottoms appear over and over again in fashion collections. As a result, older people are seen wearing decidedly military style fashions also.

The military styled fashion designs first made a serious lasting appearance in the 1950s when the Eisenhower Jacket came into popularity. In the late 1950s and early 1960s the fashion styles began to add some colors too including army green and dark blue. Since then it seems as if anything goes. The drab army brown is still popular but so is camouflage, sailor white and green. Trendy military clothing like jackets and khaki pants are matched with printed t-shirts or cargo pants are worn with a feminine shirt.

Next season’s fashions are showing signs that the love of military styles is not fading. Fashion designers are including details like brass buttons and creating short jackets and khaki skirts. One of the best features of fashions imitating military clothing is that the muted colors can be matched with so many brighter colors. You can add some jewelry, pick out colorful t-shirts, add some trendy boots and a wide belt and know you are stylish for any season or decade for that matter.
