School Uniforms Work in Every Country

School uniforms around the world vary in style but they all have the same purpose. Uniforms put students on an equal basis so they concentrate on their studies rather than fashion. This is particularly important today because many youthful styles are actually quite revealing and inappropriate for school. You can’t look at students in uniforms and tell where the children are from or how affluent their parents are. Simple t-shirts or polo shirts, shorts, modest skirts and trousers make ideal school clothing. Uniforms also save parents a lot of money which is important during these tough times.

In Europe and the Latin American countries, uniforms are standard wear in many schools. In America, school uniforms are not standard though that is changing as more and more schools require uniforms in public schools. Private schools in the U.S. have been requiring school uniforms for many years – especially the parochial or religious schools.

Printed t-shirts have played an instrumental role in getting American public schools to move towards school uniforms. T-shirts are affordable, washable, durable and come in a variety of colors. Some schools choose polo shirts for their uniforms because they are little more formal looking. The name of the school can easily be printed or embroidered on the shirts too.

When a school is trying to decide whether to institute a uniform policy, there are often strong opinions expressed. Some parents and teachers believe uniforms stifle individuality and creativity. But in today’s environment, there are often stronger arguments for adopting uniforms that are simple. Uniforms not only benefit the students and parents. They also benefit the teachers. When students are required to adhere to a dress code, the teacher has to spend a lot less time monitoring what the children are wearing.
