Jackets: The Winter Wrap Up Charlie Davies December 15, 2021 Featured, Layering It’s come to that time of the year where you need to wrap up warm! With temperatures plummeting, it’s essential that you have the right jacket to keep you warm. Here at Clothes2order we have over 250 styles of jacket to choose from and we’re confident there’s one to suit you. To help you choose your ideal jacket type, we will take you through the features and the benefits of each type of jacket in our range. Fleece A Fleece should be a staple piece for all wardrobes. This is due to the versatility of this type of Jacket. The majority of fleeces are synthetic and 100% polyester. This gives a fleece properties such as being both thick and warm but also light and soft to touch. A key benefit of fleeces is their durability. If properly cared for, fleeces can last for a long time without the garment losing its shape or feel. Fleeces are extremely easy to clean with no ironing required. A fleece also dries rapidly. This is due to a fleece not absorbing water instead, pulling moisture away using tiny, built-in capillaries, making it easier for water to evaporate. Fleeces are suitable for all as they are non-allergenic, making it an excellent choice for children for example. Softshell Softshell Jackets are suitable for a wide range of activities. A softshell sits in between a fleece which is less water resistant and windproof, and a waterproof jacket, which is less stretchy. Softshell’s are made from a woven material which mostly consists of polyester. Unlike a conventional waterproof jacket there is no lining in a softshell instead it is made by bonding two material layers together. When the weather is especially chilly and you need something more durable than a fleece, softshell jackets are the perfect midlayer. But due to its showerproof and windproof properties, a softshell can be worn as an outer layer over a base layer or jumper. Softshells allow for stretch due to being made of flexible fabrics that allow for maximum movement. Additionally the fabrics allow a soft shell to be conveniently stored in a rucksack for example, when not needed. Bodywarmers Bodywarmers do exactly what they say, they keep your body warm! Bodywarmers main use is to help to preserve body heat. With bodywarmers there is something for every activity thanks to the wide range of performance textiles available which can provide water resistance and breathability. For example, a quilted bodywarmer features insulated pockets that are divided by stitches which are quilted on the outside. This allows for body heat to be retained. A key benefit of a bodywarmer is that it does not restrict your movement and is a less bulky option than a conventional jacket. Also a bodywarmer is another pair of pockets and can come in handy to store keys and wallets. Up to eight pockets can be found on some bodywarmers. Padded Jacket A Padded Jacket is an option which provides fantastic insulation from the elements. Thousands of tiny air pockets trap warm air which retains heat and allows the wearer to keep warm. These jackets have a signature quilted design with sections that are insulated between the stitching. Padded jackets are insulated with synthetic fibres. Padded jackets are both water and wind resistant. Additionally, padded jackets are lightweight which allows for them to be easily transportable. These jackets tend to have contemporary styling which can match a variety of clothing and also uniforms. Bomber Jacket A Bomber jacket is waist length jacket with a ribbed waistband and matching cuffs. This jacket type often features four practical pockets on the top and sides, as well as a zippered front. Bomber jackets can be produced from a variety of materials, including polyester, nylon, and cotton. A key benefit of a bomber jacket is that is an evergreen design. With its roots dating back to the 1920’s, it will be sure to be a staple jacket for many years to come. Windbreaker A Windbreaker is designed to shield the wearer from chilly breezes, light rain, or cool air. It is designed to offer a layer of warmth. A windbreaker is perfect for hobbies such as running and hiking. This is due to the comfort, breathability and the compactness of a windbreaker. A windbreaker is also beneficial due to safety reasons due to being available in many bright colours. For example, at Clothes2order we have over 14 colours of windbreaker available.
