Design your own t-shirt for Christmas
If you don’t know how to design your own T-shirt, here is a quick guide to get you started with Canva.
Canva* is a free graphic design platform that’s great for making logos, invitations, business cards, Instagram posts, and more. A drag and drop interface makes customizing thousands of templates simple and easy. Canva’s wide array of features allow you to edit photos without extensive photo editing knowledge or experience.
1. Create a blank design
From the homepage, search for ‘logo’ and start with a new blank design.
2. Upload your photo
You will then be taken to the editor. From here you will find the side panel (on the left) which has all the designs elements you can use to click, or drag and drop to create your design. For personalised gifts, we recommend uploading your own photo and using this as a full bleed image for your design. You can then re-size, add graphic elements, or text, to make it more unique.
3. Add your Elements
From the sidebar, click on the ‘Elements’ icon and scroll down to ‘Grids’. You will then need to click the square grid to fill your entire design with a photo element. You can re-size the element at this point if you plan on adding text to your design. You can either upload your image via the ‘Uploads’ icon in the sidebar or use a photo from the gallery within Canva.
4. Add your image to your template grid
Once your image has been uploaded, you simply drag and drop it over the grid element to fill the grid space with your design.
5. Re-size & edit the background
You can now re-size the image and remove the background colour/design if desired.
6. Add graphic elements to your design
You can now add additional elements on top of your photo such as the santa hat or text.
7. Download and save the file as a PNG.
